About "DAVS 79" Corvette
More About "DAVS 79" Corvette

DAVS Corvette is a 1979 coupe with an L48, 195 hp engine, automatic transmission (one of 41,454 built in "79" with this option), 8" rally wheels, air, cruise control, tilt/telescoping steering column, power windows, power locks, blue leather seat trim, mirrored glass t-tops. It has been repainted midnite blue from original coded laquer paint.

Bought it in "97" it had been a garaged car. Everything was leaking from not being driven. Fixed all leaks, transmission, power steering and some oil. Fresh paint and it's no longer a garage keeper.

Repainted in "99" base coat clear coat midnite blue, new fiberglass front and rear bumpers and spoilers and new emblems all around. Added a set of Edelbrock aluminum valve covers and vents in 2000. Replaced the broken stock multi leaf spring and shocks in the summer of 2001"

In late August of 2004 I replaced the brake pads all around, two new rear rotors and calipers. Replaced front wheel bearings and seals. Tryed to replace the rear wheel bearings and seals but they kicked my ass. Had to hire it out, tuff job to do yourself. When the shop was taking half shafts apart, one fell out of the rear diff housing. Retainer clip gone, chewed up in gears. Had the gears and clutches gone through to make sure of no damage$$. While it was in someone elses shop I might as well replace all 6 "U" joint. Back on the road before Christmas. April 2005 took car in for a four wheel alignment, ride like a new one.

Drive it and love driving it every chance I get. Been to a couple local shows and driven in a couple local parades. Drove it to Mid America's FunFest (one of the largest Corvette shows) in Effingham, Il. in September "97", "98", "99", "00", "01", "02" and "03". In "04" the Corvette didn't make the trip (see above) but we went on over anyway and got our reservations for 2005.
Drove it to Bowling Green, Ky. in "Caravan 99".

In June of 2004 me and the ole' lady went down to the Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg for 4 days.
850 miles round trip. The best part of the trip was driving the car through the Smokies, winding, hilly, curvy ass twisty roads. About the funnest 850 miles put on that car by me.

In August of 2004 me and my 14 year old boy went down to Bowling Green at the National Corvette Museum for one day. Did a burnout between the then newly placed speed bumps (no more burnouts). The following day we did the Corvette plant tour. The line had just started up with the new "2005" C6 models. Pretty damn cool:)

I've alway thought of owning a Corvette once in my life. But my real interest in Corvettes began only when I bought this Corvette from my dad. My first Corvette. Corvettes have made an impression on me ever since then. They always seam to earn the awe of spectators (young or old, male or female) at the car shows and parades.
